Cook Islands Airport
The only International Airport is located on the Island of Rarotonga just 2 km from the main town of Avarua. The flight path goes over the coastal road at this point offering dramatic views of international planes arriving and departing the beautiful Cook Islands.
- Visas - not required for stay of less than 31 days
(please note that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can extend visas for up to 6 months if required)
- Vaccinations - not required
- Imports - importing of plants and animal products prohibited
- Duty Free - available at the airport
- Left Luggage - storage available at airport
- Money Exchange - available for passengers on all international flights
- Departure Tax - $25 New Zealand
All guests arriving at the small, single-storey airport are greeted by a local Cook Islands band playing traditional Polynesian songs of welcome. Cars and motorised bikes are available for hire if you require. Most resorts and hotels will meet you at the airport to transfer you to your final destination.
